The Dems need to stop torturing the judge!

At some point, the Democrats need to understand that delays, investigations, mindless requests and pure partisanship is not helping them. Congress is at a low point because the public is tired of all of this crazy partisanship.

Pres. Bush has nominated Judge Mukasey to serve as Attorney General. He is an excellent candidate.

However, he is being put through questions and questions about something called water boarding.

Let me suggest this. The Democrats should pass a bill and send it to the president. It should be called the "make water boarding illegal" bill.

Why won't they do that? Because they are afraid that the public will see them as weak on national security.

Americans are grownups. They understand that there are bad guys in the world who want to blow up one of our cities. They understand that once in a while you may have to use rough tactics to get info from very bad people.

"What's really at stake here is whether U.S. officials are going to have the basic tools required to extract information from America's enemies.

As CIA Director Michael Hayden pointed out in a speech this week, "the best sources of information on terrorists and their plans are the terrorists themselves."

Mr. Hayden added that fewer than 100 captives "have gone through the interrogation program since it began in 2002 with the capture of Abu Zubaydah," a top aide to Osama bin Laden and 9/11 plotter.

Yet those interrogations have generated "thousands of intelligence reports."

More than 70% of the human intelligence that makes it into formal U.S. intelligence estimates "is based on detainee information."

The Democrats do not want to pass a law, or legislate which is what Congress is supposed to do. The Dems just want the "torture issue" to keep Code Pink and the anti-war base distracted because of their their failure to keep campaign promises to end the Iraq War.

Make a decision.

Approve or reject the candidate and stop all of this whining about water boarding.

At this pace, Americans will come to see Congress as the real source of torture. By the way, is Sen. Kennedy, of Chappaquiddick fame, the best one to make statements about anything related to drowning and water?
