Wonder if she is explaining all of these songs to her grandchildren?
Lesley happened a few years before my time. However, I love pop songs and she had her share of big hits at a very young age.
It's hard to describe Lesley Gore.
I guess that Lesley Gore was an early 1960s version of Hannah Montana.....a cute teen girl who recorded lots of big hits.....and all of the songs were about the "complications" of teen love.
Lesley was a huge pop star before she was 18. She recorded "best sellers" and many of them are still on the radio.
Lesley Gore was one of the biggest female vocalists in that pop/rock chapter known as the period between Elvis and The Beatles.
Let's start with "It's my party", her biggest hit and one that circulates from one movie soundtrack to another.
The second is "California Nights". Lesley recorded this one when she was a little older. It is my favorite Lesley Gore song. It is a very good pop song!
